What is Watch D.O.G.S.?
JB Nelson is happy to be implementing the Watch D.O.G.S. program this year. The goal of Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is to engage men, inspire children, reduce bullying and enhance the educational environment at our school. WATCH D.O.G.S. is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for the students and to enhance school security. Today, more than 3,156 active programs in 46 states participate in the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program.
What does a Watch DOG do?
Watch D.O.G.S. take a day or half day out of their schedule and spend it at the school helping out. You will show up at the school and you’ll be given a schedule that outlines exactly where you’ll be spending your time. You’ll be in your child’s classroom, but you will also be helping out other classrooms and more. If you’re there for lunch you’ll be able to eat lunch with the kids. If you’re there for recess, you’ll get to go to recess with the kids! For more information information on the program, check out the www.fathers.com website or contact our Top Dog Aaron Kilburg (firstname.lastname@example.org), or the JBN Principal Nicole Prentiss (email@example.com) with your questions.
